Where the name comes from
He could never sit still
Spoednik was a nickname my father was given by his grandfather, because he could never sit still. It stuck, and it became the name of the company because that same restlessness is honestly how I work. I am on site, not behind a desk.
That has advantages and one obvious limitation. The advantage is that the person who quoted your job is the person standing in it, so nothing gets lost between the sales visit and the build. The limitation is that we can only run so many jobs at once, which is why we take fewer of them and finish them properly.
We believe that when you focus on the small details, the bigger picture naturally falls into place. That is not a slogan on this site. It is why we survey before we price, why we flood test a shower before it gets tiled, and why the snag list gets closed before we ask for the final payment.
Fewer jobs, finished properly, is a better business than more jobs finished badly. It took a few years to be confident enough to say that out loud.
Quality over quantity

What we are built on
Three words that appear on a lot of builders' websites. Here is what each one actually costs us to mean.
Honesty
You get told what a job really takes, including when the answer is that your budget and your brief do not meet. That conversation happens on the first visit, not in month three.
Integrity
Fair pricing, written variations, and payment against measured work. We would rather lose a job at quote stage than win it on a number we cannot build to.
Respect
For your house, your neighbours and your time. Dust contained, deliveries scheduled, the site closed properly at the end of every day.
How we work
One contract, and nobody to pass the blame to
We do not just build. We manage the whole lifecycle of a project, from concept and site preparation to the final coat of paint. That means professional project management, technical craftsmanship, and a working knowledge of South African building regulations, all under one roof.
For you it means a single point of accountability. Every subcontractor is ours to appoint, manage and pay. When the plumber and the tiler disagree, that is our problem to resolve, not yours to referee.
It also means the boring administrative parts get done: certificates collected, variations written down before they are built, and a handover pack you can hand to a conveyancer in five years without a search party.

Next step
The first visit is a conversation. Bring your questions, and the awkward ones especially.
